This pair of tall Italian greyhound sculptures from the late 19th century features the lean, muscular dogs, sitting quietly on painted faux-marble bases. Painted in grey, a skillful attention has been brought to the details, such as their head, ears, body and paws, around which their tail is wrapped, as well as their gilded collars with buckle. The grey color contrasts nicely with the gold pop of the collars. The dogs exude a distinct air of tranquility, yet they are alert. These Italian greyhound wooden sculptures circa 1880-1900 would make an amazing statement in an entry hall or foyer, perhaps placed on large pedestals, or in any other room as a decorative object.
