$5,500

A pair of English wooden barrels from the late 19th century with the United Kingdom’s royal coat of arms, made into two-light table lamps. Born in England during the last quarter of the 19th century, this pair of English wooden barrels has been converted into handsome table lamps. Their body is decorated with polychrome English royal coat of arms each depicting a lion on the left and a unicorn on the right, surrounding a central shield showcasing the Anglo-Normand maxim ‘Honi soit qui mal y pense’ (May he be shamed who thinks badly of it) as well as ‘Dieu et mon droit’ (God and my right), the motto of the Monarch of the United Kingdom. The wiring, which comes out from the back of each barrel, is new and made for the US market. With their nice proportions and polychrome décor, these wooden barrels circa 1880 mounted as two-light table lamps, will bring a touch of tradition to any home. The lamps are each 26.5″H to the top of the sockets.
