This pair of tall English Neoclassical style carved pine pedestals from the second half of the 19th century features exquisite square shaped marble tops over slender tapered, wooden bases. Just below the marble top, a Vitruvian scroll (also called wave scroll), reminiscent of classical decors, is placed above an egg-and-dart frieze. The rest of the pedestals combines concave shapes, carved medallions and foliage motifs on all sides. The pedestals rest nicely on smaller square bases. This elegant pair of English wooden pedestals circa 1870 would be a great focal point to any living room, perhaps supporting a pair of vases.
