Pair of Austrian Biedermeier 19th Century Side Chairs with Carved Open Backs

$5,500

A pair of Austrian Biedermeier period side chairs from the 19th century, with unusual carved open backs, curving legs, carved gadroon motifs and leaf themed upholstery. Created in Austria during the 19th century, this pair of Biedermeier side chairs captures our attention with their delicately carved backs presenting sinuous lines. Two elegant loops, topped with a reeded rail, come to meet in the center, each ending in a petite scroll motif. The seats are upholstered with a mustard toned fabric adorned with nicely detailed leaves. Each chair is raised on four legs, the hind ones being saber while the front ones are curving and carved with elongated gadroons on the knees. With their elegant lines, warm patina and nice upholstery, this pair of Austrian Biedermeier period wooden side chairs from the 19th century will bring a graceful touch to any home, perhaps placed in a living room, bedroom or foyer.
