This pair of Italian bronze chicken sculptures (a rooster and a hen) from the mid-20th century is quite stunning. Their large size (the tallest one is 20.75″ high) and their strong expressions create a very lively scene. The hen, paying no attention to us, is picking food from the floor, showing a nice movement from the head. The rooster however, has obviously been disturbed in this peaceful setting. Opening up his beak and turning his head towards us, we can almost hear him voicing out his displeasure. The beautiful green patina of the bronze material, the great realism shown on the heads, feathers, and the nice proportions make this pair of rooster and hen sculptures, circa 1950 an excellent decorative accent for any home.
