This pair of French Empire style walnut fauteuils from the mid-19th century features slightly out-scrolled backs with beautifully scrolled arms. The armchairs are raised on four legs each, two cabrioles – reminiscent of the Louis XV era – in front, and two saber – typical of the Empire period – in back. The seat and backrest are newly upholstered in a double welt smooth muslin. This pair of French Empire style armchairs circa 1850 would look wonderful in any living room, office or bedroom.
