A pair of Austrian Biedermeier chairs with marquetry inlay from the mid 19th century. Each of this pair of Austrian side chairs features an exquisite half-moon curved back, topped with a slightly out-scrolled rail and adorned with delicate marquetry motifs. The seat has been recently recovered with a simple double welt muslin fabric and is resting on a skirt inlaid with stylized foliage. Four elegant legs support the ensemble, the two front ones being scrolled on the knees while the back ones are saber, witnessing the influence of the French Empire style on the Biedermeier period. With its graceful silhouette, its classical décor and its warm patina, this pair of Austrian Biedermeier chairs circa 1840 will bring a distinguished touch to any décor, from a living room to a bedroom.
