An English mid to late 19th century mirror with a giltwood oval frame with a molded convex outer border ending if a flat plain inner border. The oval mirror plate is set within a slightly crested molded frame finely carved with intertwining and scrolling floral and foliate arabesques. Cresting the mirror, a flower sits above a cartouche enclosing affronted foliate arabesques amidst a guilloche pattern, also found at the bottom of the piece. This oval giltwood mirror, circa 1870, with its stylish gilt patina and harmonious shape, could be a statement piece and accent any traditional room.
