This large size Italian mirror from the second half of the 19th century, features a richly carved rectangular giltwood frame, adorned with a variety of foliage and shell motifs, typical of the Rococo style. Four shells mark the centre of each side, flanked by an abundance of volutes, acanthus leaves and other decorative motifs. In great condition, (the glass is not original to the piece), this Italian carved and gilded mirror, circa 1870 would adorn any room beautifully, particularly above a buffet, credenza or console table.
