A mid-18th century large English chest of drawers with two cases and geometric carvings. This large 18th century English wooden chest of drawers is composed of two cases of equal size separated by a central molded cornice, each with paneled sides and resting on bracket feet. The overhanging molded rectangular top rests on shaped corbels flanking two small frieze drawers centered by brass oval ring pulls on floral backplate. Great storage space is offered below thanks to one sizeable drawer adorned with geometrics mitred mouldings reminiscent of the Carolean style, distributed on two compartments separated by darker vertical pilasters with star-shaped keyhole escutcheons. The lower case is fitted with two drawers similarly compartmentalized, making it seem like there are four of them. This imposing English chest of drawers, circa 1760, with its elegant dark veneer and carved decoration, could become a statement piece of design in any traditional home.
