An Italian walnut stool with turned legs and side stretcher from the early 19th century. Born in Italy during the 1820s, this Italian stool features a square wooden seat with canted corners and pierced handle, resting on a simple apron. Four beautifully turned splayed legs with bun feet raise the stool and are connected to one another with a plain side stretcher. Similarly to English joint stools, this Italian piece was used to sit in various rooms such as kitchens. Additionally, such items were used as small side tables or drinks tables. This versatility of function will make this Italian 1820s walnut stool an excellent choice for any home.
