Italian Rococo Style 19th Century Painted Fragment with Carved Acanthus Leaves

$3,750

An Italian Rococo style painted wood architectural fragment from the late 19th century, with carved acanthus leaves, volutes and distressed finish. Created in Italy during the later years of the 19th century, this architectural fragment attracts our attention with its perfectly symmetrical arrangement of delicately carved acanthus leaves gracefully scrolling into elegant volutes. Painted in a soft color with nice distressing and wood coming through, complimenting the Rococo lines beautifully, the fragment is, of course, unfinished in the back and fitted with hardware allowing it to be hung easily. The volutes have been strengthened at some point, as shown in the photos of the back. With its elegant lines and skillfully carved décor, this Italian Rococo style painted wood architectural fragment with carved acanthus leaves from the late 19th century will make for a wonderful addition to any home, perhaps hung above a settee, a credenza or a console table.
