Italian Rococo 1820s Walnut Commode with Serpentine Front and Single Drawer

An Italian Rococo walnut single drawer commode from the early 19th century, with serpentine front and cabriole legs. Born during the second decade of the buoyant 19th century, this Italian walnut commode features a rectangular planked top with sinuous front and bevelled edges, sitting above a large single drawer with Rococo style hardware. This serpentine drawer is adorned with a crossbanded inlay surrounding a central panel made of an exquisite burled veneer, motif that is echoed on the side panels. The commode is raised on four generous cabriole legs with low-relief carved floral motifs on the knees, and connected to one another through a beautifully scalloped skirt on three sides. The result is a spectacular Italian 1820s commode, whose curvy silhouette and rich finish will compliment any decor beautifully, whether placed in a bedroom or living room.
