Iron Bull Butcher Trade Sign with Hanging Bracket from the Early 20th Century

$3,500

An iron butcher trade sign in the shape of a bull or a cow from the early 1900s. This iron trade sign was born in the early 20th century and was probably adorning the storefront of a butcher shop. Secured by a hanging iron bracket, the bull (or cow) motif was very likely chosen to represent the offerings within. This bovine sculpture is quite precise in its detail, with the head, the muscles and the folds of the neck clearly depicted. The animal has also been painted in black. The bull is represented in motion, walking on a branch and is attached to the bracket at the tail. This trade sign circa 1920-1930 will make a great addition as an ornament to any room particularly a kitchen, or perhaps even an entrance as a key holder or singular hat rack.
