French Rococo 18th Century Beech Wood Marble Top Console Table with Carved Apron

$11,000

A French Rococo beech wood console table from the 18th century with variegated marble top, natural patina, serpentine front, shell-carved apron and cabriole legs. Created in France during the 18th century, this beech wood console table features a rectangular variegated marble top with rounded edges and serpentine front, sitting above a delicately carved and scalloped apron. A central carved shell is flanked with scrolling foliage and dotted cross hatched motifs. The table is raised on four slender cabriole legs adorned with petite carved oval medallions on the knees. The feet were tipped after the table’s creation, probably a hundred years ago to increase its height. The sides present no décor and the back is bare, the table will look at its best placed against a wall. With its elegant Rococo lines, skillfully carved décor and natural patina, this French beech wood and marble top console table from the 18th century will bring a graceful presence to any home, perhaps showcased in a living room, bedroom or foyer.
