A French painted and carved wooden Louis XV style bench from the late 19th-early 20th century. This exquisite French Louis XV style bench features a rectangular backless seat, covered with a simple linen upholstery secured by a brass nailhead trim. The ensemble is raised on a lovely painted base of black color with gilded accents. The nicely scalloped skirt on all sides is adorned on each side with a carved shell flanked with acanthus leaves. The four cabriole legs are connected to one another with an exquisite slightly curved X-form stretcher. The beautifully weathered patina, showing the age of the piece, along with the timeless elegance of the Louis XV lines, make this French 1880-1900 bench an excellent choice for any decor, from a living room to a bedroom.
