A country French walnut grandfather clock from the 19th century, c.1810 ,with brass Empire style griffin figures and ‘chapeau de gendarme’ top. Created in France during the 19th century, this grandfather clock attracts our attention with its bonnet top and brass details. Secured behind a glass door and glass panels on the sides, the face, showcasing Roman numerals, is topped with two brass griffin themed motifs flanking a bouquet of flowers. The slender linear body curves up on the belly to accentuate the pendulum’s presence inside. The clock will chime on the hour and half hour, for 8 days. Resting on short scrolling feet connected to one another through a scalloped apron, this 19th century French walnut grandfather clock will bring a calming presence to any living room, dining room or foyer.
