A French neoclassical style burl elm wood commode from the second quarter of the 19th century, with three drawers and short tapered feet. Born under the reign of the last King of France Louis-Philippe, this French commode features a rectangular planked framed top sitting above three drawers. These drawers have a striking presence due to the simplicity of their lines that allows the beauty of the burled elm to stand out. They each open thanks to two linear brass handles. The commode is raised on four short tapered legs, the front ones resting on petite brass block feet. With its calm, pure neoclassical lines and gorgeous burl elm, this French commode, circa 1840 will bring a refined presence to any home, whether placed in a bedroom, living room or foyer.
