French 1820s Restauration Period Carved Giltwood Barometer Signed Gohin

$6,995

A French Restauration period carved giltwood barometer from the early 19th century, signed Gohin Ingénieur-Opticien on the face. Created in France during the Restauration period, this giltwood barometer captures our attention with its crest carved with a laurel wreath and a globe on stand. Flanked with petite ribbon-tied garlands falling along the upper section, the barometer presents a face signed Gohin, Ingénieur-Opticien at the bottom. Gohin, who supplied the Court during the Empire and the Restauration period, had a workshop located 24 Rue Neuve Saint Eustache in Paris (as noted in the barometer’s lower section). With its golden tones and skillful execution, this French Restauration period carved giltwood barometer circa 1820 will enliven any wall beautifully, perhaps hung above a side table, commode or bergère chair!
