An English Regency style dark brown painted four seater settee from the early 20th century, with gilded Greek Key frieze, cane seat, custom cushion, cylindrical legs and petite spheres. Created in England during the Turn of the Century which saw the transition between the 19th to the 20th, this wooden settee showcases the stylistic characteristics of the Regency era. The settee features an open back with four curving delicately curving supports, adorned with arched motifs and petite spheres. Two gracefully curving arms come to rest on petite baluster supports. The long rectangular cane seat comprises of a new custom linen cushion whose neutral tones compliments the settee’s dark patina beautifully. The ensemble is raised on nine legs, five cylindrical ones in the front and four saber ones in the back. The back’s upper rail and the apron are both adorned with a gilded Greek Key frieze contrasting with the dark brown color. With its Regency lines and nice proportions, this English settee circa 1900 will make for a wonderful addition to any home, particularly placed in a living room.
