English King George III 1800s Oak Five Drawer Commode with Raised Panels

$12,000

An English George III period oak commode from the early 19th century, with five graduating drawers, raised panels, brass hardware and short feet. Created in England during the George III period in the early years of the 19th century, this oak commode features a rectangular planked top sitting above a perfectly organized façade. This elegant façade is made of five drawers (two small ones over three larger, graduating ones), all fitted with unusual brass ring pulls on diamond shaped backplates. Each drawer showcases a raised panel with recessed center. The dovetail construction reveals the commode’s great age. The sides are made of recessed panels and the back is, of course, simply planked and unfinished. The ensemble, raised on four short feet, boasts a nicely weathered patina typical of a piece this age. Antique pieces such as this one have very much sought-after character and associated flaws. With its clean lines and great patina, this English George III period oak five drawer commode circa 1800 will make for a great addition to any home, placed in a bedroom or living room.
