English Georgian Period 1800s Oak Dresser Base with Five Drawers and Two Doors

$12,000

An English Georgian period oak dresser base from the early 19th century, with five drawers, two doors, brass hardware and veneered bracket feet. Created in England during the Georgian period in the early years of the 19th century, this oak piece, which is the lower part of a dresser, features a rectangular planked top with recessed accentuation in the front, sitting above a perfectly organized façade. Three graduated drawers in the center, each fitted with brass bail handles surrounding an escutcheon, are flanked with two additional ones and two doors. These doors are carved with arched motifs and open thanks to petite brass pulls to reveal an unfinished interior with shelves. The side posts, along with the central section, are adorned with discreet slender semi-columns while the side panels show no décor. The back shows a nicely weathered appearance revealing the piece’s age. Raised on bracket feet with veneered accentuation, this English Georgian period oak dresser base circa 1800 will make for a great addition to any home, particularly placed in a dining room or living room.
