English 1820s Georgian Period Oak Dresser Base with Doric Semi Columns

$12,500

An English oak dresser base from the early 19th century with T-shaped drawers, semi Doric columns, two doors and brass Chippendale style hardware. Created in England during the first quarter of the 19th century, this oak dresser base features a rectangular top sitting above six T-shaped drawers with graduating size towards the lower section. All fitted with brass Chippendale style hardware, the drawers showcase a hand-cut dovetail construction revealing its nice age. Two doors fitted with brass pulls complete the ensemble. They open to reveal nice storage compartments. The doors and drawers are flanked with semi columns presenting Doric style capitals on the side posts, creating a perfect visual continuity on the façade. The sides are made of recessed panels while the back is left unfinished. The dresser is raised on ogee bracket feet whose sinuous lines balance the general linearity beautifully. With its clean lines, nice proportions and great patina, this English Georgian oak dresser base circa 1820 will make for a wonderful addition to any living room or dining room.
