An 18th century Dutch Chippendale burl wood chest of four drawers raised on bracket feet with a bulging bottom and serpentine sides. The shaped rectangular molded top rests upon four graduating drawers, each adorned with a brass keyhole escutcheon flanked by two bail pulls on Chippendale style backplates. This piece features an exquisite shape enhanced by the unique and abstract graining of burl wood, along with a blending of straight and serpentine lines characteristic of the Chippendale style, derived from the French Rococo. This Dutch burl wood chest of four drawers, circa 1780, would make a sophisticated statement and work with a variety of design styles.
