A German Biedermeier style walnut three-drawer commode from the late 19th century, with ebonized accents and hidden drawers. Born in the later years of the 19th century, this exquisite Biedermeier style commode features a rectangular planked top surrounded by an ebonized rim, sitting above three drawers. The frieze drawer opens to reveal three petite hidden dovetailed drawers with wooden pulls. The two lower drawers are recessed and beautifully flanked with two slender ebonized columns. This dark accentuation, repeated on the kite-shaped escutcheons and short out-curving feet, creates a magnificent contrast with the warm tones of the walnut veneer. With its elegant lines and lovely décor, this Biedermeier style commode circa 1880 will bring a graceful touch to any home, whether placed in a bedroom, living room or foyer.
