An Austrian Biedermeier period wooden armchair from the 19th century, with unusual horseshoe back, out-curving arms, intertwined semi-circular motifs, turned and saber legs and green leather upholstery. Created in Austria during the 19th century, this stylish armchair features an open horseshoe back adorned with two intertwined semi-circular motifs replacing a back splat. This unusual back flows seamlessly into the two elegant arms adorned with out-scrolling extremities and curving frontal supports. The seat is covered with green leather secured with a brass nailhead trim. The chair is raised on four legs, tapered in the front with petite spade feet, and saber in the back. With its clean lines and understated décor typical of the Biedermeier period, this Austrian armchair from the 19th century will make for a lovely addition to any home, perhaps placed in a living room or in a study where it could be used as a desk chair.
