An English George III period hand-carved walnut coffer from the late 18th century mounted on a new custom-made base. Born in the later years of the 18th century, this exquisite coffer features a rectangular lid with rounded edges, opening to reveal a compartment perfect to receive linens, blankets or books. The façade is hand-carved with lovely low-relief scrolled foliages, flanked with carved side posts. The chest is raised on a new custom-made base, made of four straight legs with flattened feet. With its clean lines and beautifully hand-carved décor, this 1790s English George III period chest on custom stand will be an excellent choice to adorn any bedroom or living room, where it could be used as a coffee table.
